The Story Behind PeaBrew: A Love for Coffee, Family, Tradition, and Chickpeas
Coffee has always been a part of my life—from the first sip to the last drop, it’s a ritual I cherish every day. I grew up in a family where coffee wasn’t just a drink—it was a way to connect, relax, and share moments with loved ones. My love for coffee runs deep, especially for Turkish coffee, which I drink every day like it’s my favorite ritual. There’s nothing quite like the thick, rich flavor and the ritualistic process of brewing it that makes each cup special.
But it wasn’t just my daily cup of Turkish coffee that shaped my love for all things coffee. Every year, we’d visit my hometown in Bulgaria, and I would be greeted with the most delicious, nutritious, and comforting coffee my nana would prepare. This wasn’t the usual caffeine-heavy brew—it was a healthier, child-friendly coffee that I could enjoy alongside my family, filled with love and flavor. It became my introduction to coffee that could be enjoyed without the caffeine crash, and it stuck with me ever since.
As I grew older, I started looking for a caffeine-free coffee alternative that still gave me that rich, comforting experience. This clever use of chickpeas inspired me to recreate the same idea, but for modern coffee lovers.
